This site contains information about the non-profit NFPA, publisher of the National Electrical Code, the Life Safety Code, the Fire Prevention Code, the National Fuel Gas Code, and the National Fire Alarm Code. NFPA is currently developing the first consensus-based building code. The mission of NFPA, which was organized in 1896, is to reduce the worldwide burden of fire and other hazards on the quality of life by providing and advocating scientifically-based consensus codes and standards, research, training, and education.

ASIS International, with more than 32,000 members, is the largest international organization for professionals responsible for security, including managers and directors of security. The MSCA is a trade association of companies which are primarily in the burglar and fire alarm business, as well as other aspects of public safety. Established in 1978 as the Massachusetts Security Contractors Association, it changed its name to the Massachusetts Burglar & Fire Alarm Association in 1991. It now has two chapters, the Eastern District Chapter and the Western District Chapter which have a combined membership of more than 180 member companies.
