After Danvers was settled under the name Salem Village, a road was created that connected Salem to Boston named Old Ipswich Road, thus allowing for more permanent settlers. After being settled for nearly sixty years, Danvers entered into its most well known time, the infamous Witch Trials. In total nineteen people were executed from 1692-1693 while countless others were convicted.
Salem Village became incorporated in 1757 as Danvers and had been known as a predominantly farming community. Danvers is unique in that it has been credited with two new types of vegetables, the Danvers Onion and the Danvers half-long carrot. As time progressed, the railroad ran through Danvers and industry increased. There was a notable shoe and leather industry in the town from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Danvers is also the site of a now defunct mental institution named Danvers State Hospital. Opened in 1878, it is believed to be the place where the first pre-frontal lobotomy took place.
Among the many historic homes in town, the most famous are located at Glen Magna Farms. The central eleven acres of the property contain two houses, the Derby Summer House and the Main House. The site is known for its beautiful gardens and is surrounded by the public Endicott Park. Another famous historic house is that of Rebecca Nurse. Rebecca Nurse was one of the first people executed during the Salem Witch Trials. The house is open to the public and is furnished for colonial times.
Royal Governor General Thomas Gage and Benedict Arnold were known to have spent time in Danvers in the time around the Revolutionary War.

Danvers Resident Upgrades Fire Alarm System After Battery Operated Detectors Fail To Perform
Every home security and fire alarm system we install is unique. In this case a customer in Danvers originally asked to only have a home security system installed and monitored. This past winter, due to a house fire started by a toaster oven, they realized the battery operated smoke detectors they had were not enough.
This new integrated home security system included door contacts and pet immune motion detectors and the fire system included smoke detectors installed to code. What it also included was a solution to a major concern. The Danvers customer, an engineer by trade, was worried about the quality of craftsmanship this new home security and fire system installation. He wanted to feel comfortable that the job would be neatly done and that the wires would be hidden. His Home Security Representative assured him that he would have nothing to worry about and gave him the contact information of another customer, who is also an engineer and had the same concerns, as a reference. The workmanship of our licensed technician on the installation of this home security system upgrade and new fire alarm system exceeded his expectations.
