According to the FBI Crime Database for Massachusetts’ 279 cities and towns, Watertown was ranked 132nd in “Most Property Damage per 100,000” in 2013 improving from 115th in 2012. However, it was 210th for “Most Burglaries per 100,000” declining from 217th in 2012.

The area of Watertown was originally settled by natives for over a thousand years prior to European arrival. Originally settled in 1630 by settlers, the area was known as the Saltonstall Plantation, named after the settler Richard Saltonstall. In that same year the settlement was incorporated and named Watertown.
The original settlers, the Massachusett tribe from the Nonantum and Pequossette branches, thrived on the current Charles River which provided a surplus of fish and lush soil for agriculture. The settlers also took advantage of the nearby water source, building two mills in the seventeenth century. The first of which was a grist mill that was built in 1632, the second a textile mill which was built in 1662. Both of these were among the first built in the country and coupled with the profitable cattle and horse industries in town, made Watertown one of the more wealthy and populated towns in Massachusetts, becoming second in both population and land area, coming behind Boston.
The extreme growth of the town was short lived, pieces of Belmont, Cambridge, Lincoln, Waltham and Weston have all seceded and have either become their own town or have been added to existing towns or cities. After these towns seceded, Watertown’s focus shifted from expansion. It began to focus on building within the town. The late nineteenth and early twentieth century, Watertown saw the birth of things like the steam powered car and an arsenal. In 1897, local brothers, the Stanley twins, created steam-engine powered cars, which were the best selling of their time. A year after the creation of their first, they sold 200, which amounted to more than any other U.S. manufacturer. Thus creating the famous Stanley Steamer brand, which also gained notoriety as the first car to ascend Mount Washington. The other industry centered in Watertown was the arsenal, which created munitions for the United States Army beginning in 1816. The arsenal remained open until 1995, when the Army sold the property. The operation of the buildings have since been changed, namely operating as a shopping mall, named the Arsenal Mall.
There are two historic homes in Watertown, the Edmund Fowle House and The Abraham Browne House. The Abraham Browne House is famous for being one of the few remaining “one-over-one” dwellings in America; it is also famous for being the first fully documented restoration project in the country.
Jerry York was born and raised in Watertown and went on to attend High School at nearby Boston College High School. While there he excelled as a center and went on to attend Boston college. After finishing school he went on to become a coach for Clarkson and Bowling Green spanning the years from 1972-1994. In 1994, he became the Head Coach of the Boston College where he has remained since. He has gone on to become the most winningest coach in NCAA history winning 925 games and winning five NCAA Championships.
Félix Doubront is a native of Venezuela where he grew up playing baseball. After turning, seventeen, his rights were acquired by the Boston Red Sox and was signed to their Minor League teams. The left- handed pitcher made his professional debut in 2010 and has since split his time for the Red Sox as a Starting Pitcher and a Relief Pitcher.
Eliza Dushku was born and raised in Watertown, where she would attend Watertown High School. After high school Dushku attended George Washington University before making acting a full- time career. She has acted in movies such as True Lies, The New Guy, and the Jay and Silent Bob series.

An existing Medford customer had informed us of an elderly parent in Watertown who had recently become ill. Our customer had grown concerned because when the house wasn’t empty due to ongoing inpatient treatments their parent was home alone most of the time.
Our Integrated Systems Specialist was eager to come up with a solution that would ease the mind of our existing customer by protecting their parent in Watertown. First he comforted them in the fact that we have dealt with this type of situation before and due to American Alarm’s experience we would come up with the best possible solution. A perimeter home security system was installed to protect the home while it was empty and a monitored medical alert system was added to ensure the safety of the customer.
