The town of Princeton was originally settled as part of neighboring Rutland in 1743. After seceding from Rutland in 1759, the town became incorporated in 1771, and named after Thomas Prince. Thomas Prince is best known as an author and a clergyman.
During the early years of the town, Princeton’s main economy was primarily based around agriculture and farming. As time went on companies began making goods such as furniture, hats and lumber. As the Industrial Revolution struck Massachusetts, the railroad came to Princeton, running to and from town eight times a day. These railroads not only helped bring industry to town, but they also helped Princeton develop as a vacation site. Historic figures such as Louisa May Alcott, Lydia Pinkham and Thomas Edison all vacationed in town during the nineteenth century. Today, Princeton is no longer a hub for vacation and industry. It has turned toward a more residential bedroom community. With a population of over 3,000 Princeton is a growing community.

New Princeton Residents Install Alarm System In Their Secluded Home
With its long, winding country roads and low-density development, the town of Princeton is classic rural Massachusetts. A customer of ours who recently built a new home on a large wooded lot in Princeton asked American Alarm to design and install a comprehensive home security system and fire alarm system to protect the home. Our 24-7 monitoring capability was particularly important for this customer, because the new home is not visible from the street or any neighboring homes. If there were ever trouble at the home when the family was away, it could go unnoticed for days. But with the trained team at our 24-hour Security Command Center always on alert watching over the property, the homeowners have full peace of mind that when they are away, their home is in good hands.
