Based in New England since 1971, we’ve worked in the Royalston area for decades. We know the landscape and we have good relationships with local police and fire officials. Our team of employees (200 strong and growing) live in the communities we serve, this means our customers are our neighbors.
The first European settlers came in 1762, after many of the nearby towns had been established. After the area had been settled for three years the town became incorporated in 1765, and was named Royalston. The name Royalston, comes from Isaac Royal, one of the original settlers who had one of the larger portions of land in town.
Royalston has always been a very rural town. After incorporating in 1765, the town was a primarily agrarian community. Much of the town is covered with either conservation or protected lands to maintain the nature in the town and only a few mills were built in town which took advantage of the local sources of water the Miller’s River and the Tully River. Among the rivers are also many rolling hills, valleys and fields. Like many other nearby towns, Royalston takes up a large portion of land, but it also has a very small population. With a population of just over 1,200 Royalston remains a rural and close-knit community.

Due to the rural state of the town, most of the recreation activities in Royalston involve the outdoors and the nature in town. The town is made up of nearly forty-three square miles, and much of this is protected lands, the most well known is Royalston Falls Preservation. Two trail systems pass through the land as well, the Tully Trail and the Metacomet- Monadnock Trail. The feature in this land that is best known is the Royalston Falls which is a waterfall that drops over fifty feet long and empties into the Tully River. Apart from the trails this land is also frequented for other activities such as biking, cross-country skiing, fishing, horseback riding, hunting and picnicking. The Tully River empties into the Tully Lake, a 1,200 acre reservoir constructed in the twentieth century which also offers much of the same recreation as the Royalston Falls Preserve, except on a larger scale.
