First settled by European settlers in 1716, it took nearly 100 years to become incorporated. In 1813 it was incorporated under the name Millbury, a testament to the mill industry that was prominent in town.
After settling in 1716, Millbury, like many nearby towns became famous for its mill industry. The first mill in town was built in 1735, by John Singletary, who built another mill in 1753. The latter of these two mill is a spinning mill and is currently still in operation, as one of the oldest in America. Interestingly enough this mill produces the red string that is used for lacing on MLB baseballs.
As the nineteenth century came, the mills in town continued to grow in number. Asa Waters II opened and operated mills along the Blackstone River; these mills produced products that ranged from guns, scythes to saws.
Today the town of over 13,000, maintains its rich ties to history by maintaining and preserving many of the landmarks and mills that once made the town famous.

American Alarm Develops Special Security Systems To Monitor Medical Emergencies, Carbon Monoxide, and The Family Pet
A new townhouse condominium development in the town of Millbury proved popular with retired people and empty-nesters looking to downsize from larger homes. Based on the recommendation from the builder, and from word of mouth referrals, American Alarm was hired by several customers who bought townhomes in the new development to design and install burglar and fire alarm systems for their new homes. Whether it was to accommodate dogs and cats, or a provision for medical alert buttons, or monitoring carbon monoxide, American Alarm’s home security systems were easily customized to meet the specific needs of all the residents of this new townhome community in Millbury.
