What New Braintree is Known for…

New Braintree was first settled in 1709 after a grant for a parcel of land containing 6,000 acres was given to local settlers. In 1751, the town became incorporated, and the main economy was focused around agriculture and farming. By the end of the nineteenth century, there were more cows than people and the town produced over 200,000 pounds of cheese a year.

Today, New Braintree maintains its small town feel. With just over 1,000 residents, New Braintree is home to numerous farms, an apple orchard and local farm stands.
